Israeli Man Claims He Was Ejected From Athens Event Over Jewish and Israeli Identity
Rafi Rom, an Israeli living in Athens for 12 years, alleges he was expelled from a social event on Saturday night after organizers learned he was Jewish and Israeli. The incident occurred at a gathering hosted by Nomad Hub Greece, a community for digital nomads and remote workers, held at the 21 Grams rooftop bar in central Athens. Rom said security personnel told him he posed a "security risk" but did not clarify the nature of the threat. He emphasized that he did not behave disruptively or confront anyone during the event, which was described as an international social party with free entry upon registration and featured music and views of the Acropolis.
Rom recounted that after arriving and socializing, a Lebanese Christian acquaintance who was one of the hosts spoke with security before Rom was approached and asked to leave. He expressed shock and hurt over the accusation, stating, "What kind of security risk do I pose?" and described feeling deeply insulted and humiliated. Rom said he will no longer attend events organized by the same host and wants to warn others. As of now, the event organizers and venue have not responded to his claims.
