Maccabi Tel Aviv's Roy Revivo Commits to Team Despite Desire to Play Abroad

After a turbulent summer marked by transfer speculation, Roy Revivo has reaffirmed his commitment to Maccabi Tel Aviv ahead of the new Israeli Premier League season. The team is set to open its campaign on Sunday with an away match against Hapoel Jerusalem. Revivo, whose name was linked to a move abroad, will play his first match on home soil since the Super Cup against Hapoel Be'er Sheva at Turner Stadium.

The transfer saga surrounding the defender caused frustration among fans and the club alike. Ahead of the season opener, Revivo addressed supporters via an Instagram story, stating, "It's no secret that my dream is to play abroad, but let it be clear to everyone, as long as I'm here, I feel committed and will do everything for the team and my fans. Earlier in the summer, Revivo requested not to travel with the team for their first European League qualifier against CSKA Sofia, a match that ended in a 3-0 defeat for the Israeli Cup holders. Although he played in the return leg, helping the team secure a 3-1 win, Maccabi Tel Aviv was ultimately eliminated from the European League qualifiers and dropped to the Conference League qualifiers. The entire episode caused considerable disappointment among the yellow-clad supporters.
