Chef Omer Miller and Family Move to Thailand for a Year of Homeschooling and Travel

Israeli chef Omer Miller, his wife Shiran Kadar Miller, and their three children have relocated to Koh Phangan, Thailand, for a year-long stay. Unlike a typical vacation, this move is a deliberate decision to live abroad and homeschool their children. Miller shared on Instagram that since meeting Shiran, he dreamed of traveling the world for a year, but life circumstances such as work, children, and the pandemic had delayed this plan. Shiran sought an educational framework for their kids but found none suitable, leading them to choose homeschooling combined with their travel plans.

Omer explained that their decision stems from a desire to fulfill dreams, a belief in living life fully, and the wish to educate their children according to their values. He acknowledged the financial sacrifices involved, noting he has previously given up income for ideological reasons and trusts that following their hearts will bring new opportunities. Shiran added that they united their dreams of travel and education, deciding to spend the coming months in Thailand before determining their next steps.

Despite their move, the couple confirmed they plan to return briefly to Israel to vote in the upcoming elections on October 27. Their story highlights a family prioritizing personal values and alternative education while embracing a significant lifestyle change abroad.
