Over 20 Marvel Actors Join Campaign Demanding Release of Palestinian Prisoner Marwan Barghouti
More than 20 actors from Marvel Studios films and series have joined an international campaign calling on Israel to release Palestinian prisoner Marwan Barghouti. Notable supporters include Benedict Cumberbatch, known for playing Doctor Strange; Mark Ruffalo, who portrays the Hulk; and Don Cheadle, who plays War Machine. Other prominent signatories are Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton, Tatiana Maslany, Daniel Brühl, Ian McKellen, Hugo Weaving, and Kingsley Ben-Adir.
The "Freedom for Marwan" campaign was launched late last year by Barghouti's family with backing from civil society organizations in the United Kingdom. These Marvel actors join over 200 cultural figures worldwide, including actors, musicians, writers, and directors, who have already signed a letter supporting the campaign.
The campaign seeks to pressure Israel to free Barghouti, a Palestinian prisoner held in Israeli jails, highlighting growing international cultural support for his release.
