He is quoted as saying, "A state does not receive independence; a state takes independence, and for a state to take independence, blood must be shed." The report highlights his exceptional status within Palestinian factions, noting Hamas’s strategic interest in his release during negotiations for hostages in Gaza, reflecting ideological closeness.
Recently, Barghouti has been preparing the ground for the Palestinian Authority presidential elections and coordinating with Hamas leadership to unify forces and remove Mahmoud Abbas from power.
