The "Education for Excellence" association seeks high school and older volunteers nationwide to mentor children from grades 3 to 12 in academic excellence centers, focusing on reducing social gaps and fostering independent learning habits. Volunteers commit to one school year, meeting once weekly between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
In northern Israel, the "Lev Hesh" association runs the "Staying in the Loop" project, offering academic and social mentoring to children with cancer or chronic illnesses and their siblings. Volunteers aged 17 and above visit mentees weekly for about two hours, providing homework help and exam preparation.
In the Sharon region, the "Neve Michael" residential educational and therapeutic center in Pardes Hanna-Karkur seeks volunteers aged 20 and above to tutor children aged 6 to 18 who have been removed from their homes due to risk or distress. Sessions occur once weekly for two hours in the afternoons or evenings.
In central Israel, the "Eliflat" association in Tel Aviv supports refugee children by running after-school clubs where volunteers aged 15 and older assist with homework and language skills in Hebrew, English, and math. Volunteers meet at least once a week for two hours.
In Jerusalem, the "Binyamin for Children" library in Beit Shemesh recruits volunteers aged 15 and above to mentor immigrant children from disadvantaged backgrounds, providing personal and academic support once weekly for about two hours.
In southern Israel, the "Gamla" program in Ashkelon coordinates over 2,000 adult volunteers who tutor more than 2,400 immigrant students.
