Israeli Council Demands Immediate IDF Response to Kites from Gaza in Western Negev

Following the discovery of four kites in the Western Negev over the weekend, residents near the Gaza border expressed concern that the kites originated from Gaza and called on the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to respond promptly. Uri Epstein, head of the Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council, emphasized that these kites were found with strings extending for kilometers and warned against normalizing such incidents. He stated, "A kite crossing into Israeli territory is an event that requires a response. Without a response, the message to the other side is that they can continue." Epstein demanded an immediate investigation and assured that responses must occur in real time, not after the fact.

Epstein further stressed that since the events of October 7, the community will no longer accept reassurances like "it will be okay." He referenced evolving threats on Israel's northern border, highlighting the need for proactive measures rather than reactive ones. "The writing is already in the sky. Now it is the IDF's responsibility to act promptly," he said, underscoring the urgency for timely military intervention to prevent escalation.
