Musician Mati Gurion, Son of Israeli Artist Israel Gurion, Dies at 49 After Illness

Mati Gurion, a musician and son of the renowned Israeli singer, actor, and pantomime artist Israel Gurion, passed away at the age of 49 following a battle with a serious illness. His mother, Miki Gurion, announced his death on Facebook, expressing her grief and wishing him peace. Mati was known as a guitarist and drummer, notably playing acoustic guitar on songs such as "Shayeret HaRochvim" and "HaOlam BeShachor Lavan" from the album "Shirim HaDudaim," a collaboration between Israel Gurion and Asaf Amdursky. He also performed alongside his father during live shows.

The Third Ear music store, where Mati worked for many years, mourned his passing in a Facebook post, describing him as a knowledgeable, witty, and beloved music and cinema enthusiast. They expressed deep sorrow over his untimely death and extended condolences to his family and friends. Earlier in 2024, Mati's mother revealed that Israel Gurion had developed dementia, which led to his need for full-time care and cessation of public performances.
