Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar paid tribute to Yaacov Agam, one of Israel’s most prominent artists, after Agam died at the age of 98. Zohar said he received the news of Agam’s death with sorrow and described him as a Nobel? No, as a recipient of the Israel Prize and one of the most influential Israeli artists in the world.
In his statement, Zohar called Agam a pioneering artist who gave Israeli creativity a unique and inspiring language. He said Agam’s artistic legacy would continue to illuminate and influence generations of creators in Israel and abroad.
Zohar also sent condolences on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and Sports to Agam’s family, his friends, and all art lovers in Israel.
