Beloved Belz Hasidic Educator and 'Ezra L'Marpeh' Founder Aryeh Mordechai Frenkel Dies at 73

Aryeh Mordechai Frenkel, a respected educator and one of the founders of the Israeli medical aid organization 'Ezra L'Marpeh,' passed away suddenly at age 73 in Bnei Brak. Born in 1954 to Rabbi Yehuda Frenkel and Mrs. Tzila, he dedicated over 40 years to teaching young children in Bnei Brak's Belz Hasidic community, focusing on early literacy and Torah study. Frenkel was also known for organizing the 'Naye Ingele' ceremony welcoming children to cheder at age three.

A committed volunteer, Frenkel helped establish 'Ezra L'Marpeh' and managed equipment lending during its early days from his home. Despite suffering a stroke about a decade ago, he remained devoted to his community, praying daily at the central Belz synagogue on Admor MiBelz Street and preparing tea for worshippers and students.

Just this week, he was honored to receive a kvitel (prayer note) from the Belz Rebbe, reflecting his deep spiritual connection. Frenkel was hospitalized on Wednesday night at Maayanei Hayeshua Medical Center after feeling unwell, and his condition deteriorated overnight. His funeral took place on Friday morning, starting from his home on Yigal Street in Bnei Brak, proceeding through the central Belz synagogue, and concluding at the Kehilat Machzikei HaDat section of Ashdod cemetery. His soul is remembered with great respect and affection.
