Marc Cucurella signs long-term deal with Real Madrid
Marc Cucurella has officially signed with Real Madrid on Monday, June 15, 2026, leaving Chelsea after recent seasons in London. The left back will join the squad on a six-year contract, as Madrid continue an aggressive summer rebuild.
The move adds Cucurella to a list of major arrivals already linked with the club, including Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konate and Bernardo Silva. Madrid want a deeper, stronger roster for next season after failing to win a major trophy in each of the past two years.
New coach Jose Mourinho is said to have strongly backed the signing, viewing Cucurella as a perfect fit for his system. Club sources said Mourinho pushed to bring him in early in the transfer window, specifically to strengthen the left side of defense and increase squad quality and depth.
The transfer fee is reported to be about 60 million euros. Real Madrid signed another left back, Alvaro Carreras, for a similar amount last summer, and the two are expected to compete for the position next season. Cucurella is currently with Spain at the World Cup in North America, and after winning Euro 2024 he will hope to help Spain lift the trophy in just over a month.
