Former Basketball Star Tal Brody Reflects on 60 Years in Israel and Political Views

Tal Brody, a former basketball player and Israel Prize laureate, who was inducted into the Israeli Basketball Hall of Fame last night, appeared on the show "The Patriots" to discuss his decision to remain in Israel, his political views, and his thoughts on current players. Brody revealed that he originally came to Israel for just one year and never imagined staying for nearly 60 years. He recalled the Six-Day War period when he received a message from the American embassy instructing him to leave Israel but chose to stay.

Brody also addressed his participation in the Likud party primaries, responding to criticism by emphasizing the importance of voting to influence election outcomes. He stated that in the upcoming elections, he plans to vote for the candidate he believes can form a coalition beneficial to the country. Regarding U.S. politics, Brody shared that he voted for Donald Trump, contrary to his family’s usual Democratic preference, explaining his vote was motivated by support for Israel.

On basketball, Brody mentioned he still plays casually despite not being as active as before. He expressed pride in current Israeli player Deni Avdija, praising his performance and his positive engagement with the Jewish community, comparing him to Omri Casspi.
