IDF and Shin Bet Reveal Hamas Uses Gaza Hospital for Torture and Security Interrogations

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet disclosed on Thursday that Hamas is conducting security interrogations and torture inside the Al-Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza. According to their joint statement, Hamas is increasingly concerned about losing popular support among Gaza residents and is intensifying its security operations to maintain control through intimidation, interrogations, and torture.

Intelligence reveals that Hamas operates these interrogations in the 'Yassin' building on the second floor of the hospital's outpatient clinics. The hospital is being exploited not only for medical purposes but also as a command center for Hamas, including interrogation, torture, and extortion activities. IDF forces are active in the area, which now serves as a Hamas control hub.

The statement further notes that hospital patients and staff witness a permanent presence of Hamas operatives, some masked, throughout the hospital complex. This militarization of a civilian medical facility instills fear and disrupts medical care. Another building within the hospital compound, previously used as offices, a cafeteria, and a prayer room, now functions as a Hamas interrogation center.

The IDF and Shin Bet condemned Hamas's use of civilian infrastructure for military purposes as a widespread violation of international law, which prohibits military use of hospitals. The IDF warned Gaza residents that Hamas's fear of losing control drives it to exploit hospitals, schools, and other civilian sites, thereby endangering the very populations these facilities are meant to serve.
