Israeli Firefighters Rescue Tawny Owl Trapped on Roof in Hoshaya

On Thursday morning, Israeli firefighters responded to an emergency call about a tawny owl trapped in a pigeon net on a rooftop in the village of Hoshaya, located in the Lower Galilee region. The owl, a large nocturnal bird of prey native to Israel, was caught and unable to free itself, exposed to the sun and at risk of dehydration and rapid health deterioration.

Firefighters from the Nof HaGalil station were dispatched promptly, while operations coordinators at the Northern District control center contacted the Israel Nature and Parks Authority to assist, given the owl's endangered condition. Upon arrival, the rescue team carefully freed the owl from the net to avoid further injury.

After the rescue, the owl was handed over to the Nature and Parks Authority and transferred to the Ramat Gan Safari's wildlife clinic for medical treatment, including hydration. The team commander, Sergeant Major Rawad Bibar, emphasized the urgency of the rescue, noting the critical risk posed by the sun exposure and the successful cooperation that saved the bird's life.
