Danny Dotan Performs Iconic Click Hit After Over a Decade at Book Launch

On August 16, 2026, Israeli musician Danny Dotan launched his debut book titled after his band The Click's hit song "Don't Light My Candle," edited by Yael Katz Ben Shalom. At the event's conclusion, Dotan performed songs by The Click for the first time since the passing of his bandmate Eli Abramov nearly 11 years ago. Accompanied on keyboards by Yasmin Even, who had toured with The Click in their later years, Dotan delivered a moving rendition of "Don't Light My Candle," a song he had not performed in over a decade.

The Click, founded in 1980 by Jerusalem natives Dotan and Abramov, blended new wave, post-punk, and rock. They released three studio albums, with their first two becoming milestones in Israeli rock: "Mom, I Don't Want to Wean" (1981), featuring "Incubator" and "Golem," and "Dense World" (1983), including "Don't Light My Candle" and "All the Truth." In 2014, they recorded their farewell album "I'm Not in the Soundtrack" in the United States. The following year, Eli Abramov passed away after battling a serious illness. Earlier, drummer Jean-Jacques Goldberg and keyboardist Rona Vered, both key contributors to the band's journey, had also died.
