Belz Rabbi Oversees Kosher Slaughterhouse Operations in Detailed Inspection
Rabbi Aharon Mordechai Rokach, acting on behalf of his father, the Belz Rebbe, conducted a thorough visit to the kosher slaughterhouse supervised by the Machzikei HaDat kosher certification system. The visit aimed to closely monitor the meticulous slaughtering procedures and their stringency. He was welcomed by the slaughterhouse rabbis and supervisors, including Rabbi Shmuel Mordechai Zelfreind, the chief supervisor of the slaughtering process, and Rabbi Mordechai Brisk, chairman of the Machzikei HaDat community and kosher system.
The inspection began in the slaughterers' room, where Rabbi Rokach examined the kosher status and quality of the slaughtering knives. He then undertook an extensive tour lasting over two hours, observing every stage from the slaughter itself, through the various post-slaughter inspections, preparation and salting processes, to the final packaging and supervision. Throughout, he inquired deeply into the operational and supervisory details at each step.
During the visit, Rabbi Zelfreind and the dedicated professional team, all devout and meticulous in their work, explained the high standards maintained at the facility and the strict attention to every detail in the slaughtering and supervision system. The visit concluded with a celebratory gathering at the slaughterhouse offices, attended by Rabbi Mordechai Hasid, marketing manager of the Kehilot brand. They reviewed the impressive development of the refined slaughtering system, which markets tens of thousands of poultry daily under the Kehilot brand across Israel, earning widespread trust among observant Jewish communities.
The efforts and dedication invested over nearly fifty years by the Belz Rebbe in establishing and expanding this kosher certification and slaughtering system were highlighted, emphasizing the rigorous adherence to all halachic boundaries, stringencies, and refinements. Rabbi Rokach expressed great admiration for the rabbis, slaughterers, inspectors, and all involved in this sacred work, who tirelessly ensure the highest levels of kosher certification and refinement. He noted the special satisfaction this brings to the Belz Rebbe, who sees blessing in their sacred labor for the entire Jewish people.
This visit reflects the significant momentum of the Machzikei HaDat kosher system, which continues to expand to dozens of factories and hundreds of products, alongside growing public confidence in its refined kosher certification and standards.
