Widespread Fire Near Hebron Forces Evacuation of Afka Settlement

A large fire broke out on Wednesday evening near the settlement of Afka in southern Mount Hebron, spreading rapidly toward residential areas due to strong winds. As a precaution, the entire settlement was evacuated, though no injuries have been reported so far. Firefighters and volunteers from the Judea Regional Fire Station are combating the blaze on multiple fronts to contain it. Four firefighting planes from the Elad Squadron were deployed alongside ground crews, with additional support teams arriving from neighboring districts to bolster efforts.

Initial reports described an extensive fire line advancing through the woodland adjacent to Afka, threatening homes. Firefighting efforts focus on creating containment lines to prevent the flames from reaching the settlement. Police have closed Route 60 between Adurim and the settlement of Atneil in both directions to facilitate emergency response and keep the road clear. Hebron police officers are assisting firefighters and urging drivers to avoid the area and follow instructions from authorities.

The fire department emphasized the urgency due to the fire's proximity to residential areas and the rapid spread through both forested and open terrain. Efforts to stop the fire's advance continue as emergency teams work to protect Afka's homes and residents.
