Report Says Iran-U.S. Interim Deal Was Driven by Trump’s Birthday Timing
An emerging interim agreement between the United States and Iran is causing deep concern in Jerusalem and has become a major public talking point in Israel. On Monday morning, Walla correspondent Idan Qualer discussed the matter on Radio 103FM’s “Seven Nine” with Gideon Oko and Amichai Attali, offering a behind-the-scenes view of the American move and what he said were troubling consequences for Israel.
Qualer argued that the rapid progress toward understanding was not accidental. According to him, personal and political motives in Washington shaped the timing and presentation of the deal. He said, “Donald Trump wanted this agreement like this,” adding, “He wanted recognition, he wanted an agreement on his birthday, that is the story.”
He also noted that the first official announcement of the breakthrough did not come directly from the countries involved. Instead, he said, Pakistan’s prime minister was the first to announce that there was an agreement.
Beyond the political interpretation, Qualer stressed the security implications for Israel and said the deal could strengthen what he called the “axis of evil” in the region. He linked that concern to recent Iranian threats against Israel and concluded, “From an Israeli point of view, this is a very frightening agreement.”
