US Blames Israel for Airstrikes in Syria, Calls for Restraint and Dialogue
Tom Brake, the US envoy to Syria from the State Department, accused Israel on Tuesday of carrying out airstrikes last night on the military airport in Idlib province. Although Israel has not officially claimed responsibility, Syrian media reported that Israeli Air Force jets conducted the attack. The strikes occurred a day after a Turkish military delegation visited the area.
Brake expressed serious concern over the Israeli air raids on the Abu al-Duhur base, describing them as an unnecessary escalation that undermines regional stability. He emphasized that the Assad government has not adopted an aggressive stance nor used proxy forces, and has repeatedly shown willingness to reduce tensions with Israel.
The US envoy highlighted America's past and ongoing role in hosting diplomatic talks aimed at promoting dialogue. He stressed that agreements and tension reduction require joint discussions involving all relevant countries and parties. Brake called for prioritizing restraint and dialogue over further military incidents.
