Senior Peace Council Official Confirms Agreement with Netanyahu on Gaza Roadmap
A senior official from the Peace Council told Al Jazeera that the council's delegation and Jared Kushner reached an agreement with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the way forward regarding Gaza. The official described the meeting as lengthy and productive, stating that Israel will give a chance to the proposed roadmap. It was agreed that Israeli Defense Forces will not redeploy outside Gaza until Hamas is disarmed, including the dismantling of light and heavy weapons as well as tunnels in the Gaza Strip. The official emphasized that Israel reserves the right to self-defense and to act if Hamas resumes terrorism or re-arms. Netanyahu assured the council that Israel will uphold its previous commitments, placing the responsibility now on Hamas to respond.
