Israel Conditions Gaza Reconstruction on Complete Hamas Disarmament, Jared Kushner Confirms

Israeli Prime Minister held a lengthy meeting with Jared Kushner, agreeing that no reconstruction efforts in Gaza will proceed without the full disarmament of Hamas. Despite significant disagreements over the peace council, the American side adopted a more moderate stance, with Kushner emphasizing that "there is nothing to rebuild before the strip is demilitarized." The agreed first step toward disarmament involves Hamas handing over all its weapons, both heavy and light, for destruction under the supervision of General Jeffries, head of the ceasefire monitoring committee. Concurrently, limited sanitation operations will be allowed in Gaza to prevent disease outbreaks.

During the meeting, Israel presented Kushner with evidence showing no recent genuine disarmament process by Hamas and disclosed findings of Turkish funding to the terrorist organization. The Prime Minister made clear that Israel will not retreat from the IDF's freedom of action or its policy of preemptive strikes, including immediate threats and targeted killings of militants involved in the October 7 attacks. An Israeli official noted that the main remaining obstacle is Israel's official distrust in Hamas's willingness or ability to disarm, contrasting with the American belief that disarmament is achievable.
