Forward Shlomo Lugasi Joins Maccabi Tel Aviv Training Ahead of 2026/27 Season
Maccabi Tel Aviv is advancing its preparations for the 2026/27 basketball season by adding 24-year-old forward Shlomo Lugasi to its training roster. Lugasi, who captained Bnei Herzliya last season, is expected to join the team’s training sessions as several Maccabi players will be away for national team duties at the end of August.
During the previous season with Herzliya, Lugasi helped lead the team to the Israeli State Cup final, where they were defeated by Maccabi Tel Aviv 100-90. Prior to Herzliya, he played for Nahariya, Kiryat Motzkin, Kiryat Ata, and Rishon Lezion.
In the last season, Lugasi averaged 9.2 points per game with shooting percentages of 59% from the field and 37% from three-point range, along with 4.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. His scoring and playing time have steadily increased over the past seasons, reflecting his development as a player.
Maccabi Tel Aviv’s integration of Lugasi into their preseason training signals their intent to strengthen the squad depth ahead of the upcoming season.
