Funeral Held for Rabbi Tzvi Zev Berger, Sanz-Kloiznburg Leader, After US Border Delay

Rabbi Tzvi Zev Berger, the esteemed rabbinical authority (Moetzes) of the Sanz-Kloiznburg community, passed away suddenly in his sleep at age 43 while resting in Zurich, Switzerland. His funeral took place late Friday night after a delay caused by complications with US border authorities.

In recent days, community activists in the United States worked tirelessly and in close cooperation with the Swiss community to secure the release of Rabbi Berger's body. Their efforts, aided by divine assistance, culminated in the funeral held Friday night. At Zurich airport, Rabbi Tzvi Elimelech Padwa, the community leader, bid farewell and delivered eulogies.

The funeral procession then traveled to the United States, first stopping at the large Sanz-Kloiznburg synagogue in Borough Park, Brooklyn. There, prominent rabbis including the Skverer Moetzes of Borough Park, the Ratzfert Av Beit Din, the Lakewood Kiryat Sanz Moetzes, the Av Beit Din of Torat Moshe, and Rabbi Gedalia Landa gave stirring eulogies.

The procession continued to the main Sanz-Kloiznburg synagogue in Monsey, New York, where additional eulogies were delivered by the Monsey and Jerusalem Sanz-Kloiznburg Moetzes and the Av Beit Din of Rivnitz. They mourned the painful loss of this great leader.

The community shared numerous photos of the funeral, reflecting the deep respect and sorrow felt across the Sanz-Kloiznburg world for Rabbi Berger's untimely passing.
