David Roddy Joins Hapoel Jerusalem, Aims for EuroCup Victory Over NBA Career

David Roddy, the 25-year-old forward and former NBA player, has arrived in Israel to join Hapoel Jerusalem for the 2026/27 basketball season. Standing 1.96 meters tall, Roddy is set to play in Europe for the first time and expressed excitement about his new team and goals. Upon landing at Ben Gurion Airport, he stated that the main objective is to win the EuroCup and qualify for the EuroLeague, praising the club's talented roster and historic status.

Roddy acknowledged the need to adapt to European basketball, noting its faster pace and physicality, which he believes suits his style better than the NBA. He described himself as a vocal leader and versatile player capable of passing, dribbling, and shooting, promising fans competitive and winning plays.

Drafted 23rd overall in the 2022 NBA Draft by Philadelphia, Roddy struggled to secure a permanent spot in the league. He moved between teams including Memphis, Phoenix, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Houston, and Denver, playing 181 NBA games with averages of 6.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game. His best NBA season was 2023/24 with Memphis, averaging 8.4 points and 4.2 rebounds over 48 games.

Roddy signed a one-year contract with Hapoel Jerusalem worth approximately $1.5 million, with an option for a second year. He is the first new signing for the club ahead of the upcoming season.
