Seven Jewish Tourists Assaulted by Crowd in Barcelona Over Pro-Palestinian Rally

Seven Jewish tourists from France were verbally and physically harassed by a large crowd in Barcelona's port area several weeks ago, according to Jimmy Zagron, one of the victims. The group, some wearing kippahs and one dressed in Hasidic Chabad attire, was surrounded by hundreds of people who shouted antisemitic slogans and spat on them for about 40 minutes. The incident began when a woman displaying pro-Palestinian symbols noticed the group and started clapping and shouting "Free Palestine," which quickly drew a massive crowd.

The demonstration escalated into chants including "baby killers," "Jews are not welcome here," "Zionists are not welcome here," "death to Israel," and insults directed at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Zagron tried to explain that he was a French citizen unaffiliated with Israel, but the harassment continued. Realizing their lives were in danger as they were completely surrounded, the group split up to avoid full encirclement.

After nearly 45 minutes of abuse, the seven managed to escape and return safely to their hotel in Barcelona. The attack highlights rising antisemitic tensions linked to pro-Palestinian demonstrations in the city.
