Legal and Political Pressure Mounts Over 'Bo'u' NGO's Election Activities and Funding

Following a report on Channel 14, significant scrutiny has been directed at the Israeli NGO "Bo'u," which operates in the election sphere and is reportedly managed by activists linked to the Democratic Party. The NGO has received nearly two million shekels since its inception, but the sources of these funds remain unclear. This has prompted the Likud party's legal advisor, Attorney Ilan Bombach, to demand clarifications from both the NGO and the Democratic Party regarding their relationship, alleging a "serious suspicion" that the NGO acts as an "extended arm" of the party.

Simultaneously, the organization "Ad Kan" has petitioned the chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Judge Noam Solberg, to investigate the NGO's funding sources, declare it an "active election body," and issue an injunction to halt its activities. The NGO "Bo'u" was established after the October 7 massacre and initially focused on student union matters but has since expanded into election-related activities.

The Registrar of Associations has also responded, stating that "Bo'u" currently lacks a valid management certificate and that the allegations will be examined alongside other data in the NGO's file. The outcome of this review may lead to supervisory proceedings. No response has been received from "Bo'u." The developments place the responsibility on the Central Elections Committee to determine whether the NGO's activities and alleged political ties require compliance with election funding and activity regulations.
