Meta is developing a new security feature for WhatsApp called Scam Alert, designed to protect users from spam and scam messages sent by unknown contacts. The tool aims to identify and warn users about fraudulent messages, helping prevent them from falling victim to scams. According to technology reporter Guy Shahar on the program "HaOlam HaBoker," the innovation relies on an artificial intelligence model that operates locally on the user's phone. This approach preserves user privacy and maintains WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption by avoiding sending personal messages to external cloud servers. Shahar explained that the AI model will be downloaded to the device through the app settings and run in the background, analyzing incoming messages to detect scams without compromising data security.
