IDF Chief Rabbi Leads Ceremony Awarding Scholarships to Torah Scholars in Givat Ze'ev

A scholarship ceremony honoring winners of the "Maran Prize" program took place in Givat Ze'ev, attended by prominent Torah scholars, city rabbis, public officials, and dozens of authors of Torah study groups. The program encourages deep study of Jewish law and features Torah groups written in memory of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef zt"l. Winners received scholarships worth thousands of shekels in recognition of their dedication to clarifying halachic issues.

The keynote speech was delivered by the Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi David Yosef, who praised the Torah scholars for their efforts amid challenges facing the Torah world. He urged increased Torah study despite external difficulties, emphasizing respect and support for Torah scholars, especially in current times. Rabbi Yosef also thanked Deputy Mayor Israel Rivuch for his tireless work to promote Torah study in the city.

Member of Knesset Erez Malul read a blessing from Shas party leader Rabbi Aryeh Deri, who commended the authors of the Torah groups and the ongoing engagement with Rabbi Ovadia Yosef's teachings. The event included participation from local community rabbis, Knesset members Haim Biton, Michael Malchieli, Yossi Tayeb, and Erez Malul, as well as Givat Ze'ev Mayor Yossi Asraf, Deputy Mayor Israel Rivuch, Religious Council Chairman Israel Avron, and other city council members.

The program was initiated by Israel Rivuch with support from Mayor Asraf and Religious Council Chairman Avron. The musical segment was performed by the "Neshama" choir and an expanded orchestra conducted by composer Bentzi Stein.
