Chief Rabbi and Yeshiva Head Award Yossi Dagan for Torah and Settlement Leadership
At a celebratory event marking 30 years of the Alon Moreh Yeshiva, Yossi Dagan, head of the Shomron Regional Council, was honored with the "Crown of Torah and Settlement" certificate. The award was presented by Israel's Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Kalman Bar, and the yeshiva head, Rabbi Avraham Lebanon. The ceremony was also attended by Rabbi Shachar Imber, the yeshiva head, and Elissaf Pershan, CEO of the institutions. The certificate recognized Dagan's tireless dedication to building the Shomron region and establishing Torah as the cornerstone of the land.
In his acceptance speech, Dagan emphasized that values provide strength and highlighted the empowering role of the Land of Israel, quoting teachings from Rabbi Zvi Yehuda Kook. He praised Rabbi Lebanon's inspirational leadership and the yeshiva's vital role in nurturing thousands of students who are considered the spearhead of the Jewish people. Dagan noted the yeshiva's significant influence on strengthening various communities, including Ramla, Avinoam, and settlements such as Avitar and Har Eival.
The event drew hundreds of alumni, students, rabbis, and public figures, including Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Rabbi Shlomo Yosef Witzen. The evening featured special lessons from the yeshiva's founding rabbis, a central assembly with certificate presentations to the founding class and former CEO Rabbi Nissim Attias, and video retrospectives of the yeshiva's journey. Smotrich paid tribute to fallen heroes associated with the yeshiva and underscored the growth of Torah institutions in Israel.
Speakers highlighted the yeshiva's unique path and vitality over the decades. Chief Rabbi Bar described the yeshiva as an inspiring prototype and wished it to remain a "great lighthouse of Torah until the coming of the Messiah." Rabbi Lebanon noted that alumni apply the yeshiva's teachings in study halls, battlefields, and practical life, embodying a Torah connected to life. Rabbi Imber called the yeshiva a source of vitality and love permeating all aspects of life. CEO Elissaf Pershan pledged to continue leading the institution's growth and development for decades to come, including its branches in Avitar and Har Eival.
