Likud Primaries Reach Final Stage as Candidates Vie for National List and Reserved Seats

The Likud party's primary elections are entering their decisive phase, with intense competition among candidates to secure positions on the national list for the upcoming Knesset elections. The race includes prominent figures such as Amir Ohana, Ze'ev Elkin, Dudi Amsalem, and Miki Zohar, alongside many newcomers aiming to break into the parliament.

In addition to the national list, candidates are also competing for reserved slots representing various sectors, including youth, non-Jewish communities, immigrants, people with disabilities, and new female candidates. Notable contenders in these special categories include Natanel Ohayon and Ram Deutsch for youth, Razi Abu Kaf and Samir Zidan for the non-Jewish sector, Abraham Dzhuraev and Gavra Vorko for immigrants, Aaron Michalis and Yehuda Soshard for people with disabilities, and Keren Atias Bublil among new women candidates.

A significant aspect of this primary is the contest for reserved district seats, which has opened up following a decision barring current ministers and Knesset members from running in these slots. This change has paved the way for many local and new candidates to enter the race.

Voting will take place at physical Likud polling stations nationwide and is open to party members listed in the voters' registry who have completed the required eligibility period. Voters must present valid identification such as an ID card, Israeli passport, or driver's license. Each member will vote for 12 candidates on the national list and one candidate from their respective district. Additional votes may be cast for candidates in other reserved categories as applicable.

The primary elections are a critical step in shaping the Likud party's candidate slate ahead of the 2026 Knesset elections, reflecting both established leadership and emerging voices within the party.
