Israeli Charity Launches Campaign to Support 99 Orphan Weddings Before High Holidays

As the Jewish High Holidays approach, the Israeli charity 'Kupat Ha'Ir' is spearheading a special campaign to support 99 orphaned young men and women preparing for their weddings in the month of Elul. Each case has been carefully vetted by the charity's rabbis to ensure eligibility for financial aid, emphasizing the mitzvah of supporting orphans, which the Talmud highlights as one of the highest forms of charity.

The charity's leaders presented the initiative to Rabbi Dov Landau, a prominent Torah authority, who personally endorsed the campaign by writing a handwritten appeal urging the public to contribute generously. He blessed all donors with "a good inscription and sealing" for participating in this significant mitzvah.

The campaign aims to raise funds to ease the financial burden on these 99 orphans, many of whom have endured considerable hardship and loss. The charity requests a modest donation of ten shekels per orphan, totaling 990 shekels, to help cover wedding expenses and allow the couples to celebrate joyfully and without financial worry.
