Israeli Influencers Honor Rabbi Kook's Legacy Through Personal Tributes and Cultural Campaign
Ahead of the anniversary of Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook's passing on the 3rd of Elul, a new campaign titled "Saluting the Path" was launched to celebrate his enduring values of love for Israel, goodwill, leadership, courage, and humility. The campaign invited influencers, artists, and public figures to identify individuals in the Religious Zionist community who embody Rabbi Kook's principles today and to dedicate personal video tributes to them on social media.
Participants received special packages inspired by Rabbi Kook, including his iconic round glasses, symbolically encouraging them to "wear Rabbi Kook's glasses" and see the world through his vision. Among the notable tributes was a video by makeup artist Tal Calfon, who honored Major General Dado Bar-Kalifa and his wife Karin, highlighting Bar-Kalifa not only as a senior military commander but also as a caring neighbor and devoted father who supports his family even during demanding times. Calfon also acknowledged the sacrifices made by the families of career soldiers.
Musical producer Yaakov Asraf, a longtime collaborator of singer Hanan Ben Ari, contributed by connecting Rabbi Kook's century-old poem "Spaces, Spaces" to Ben Ari's song "Wikipedia," demonstrating how the rabbi's ideas continue to resonate in contemporary Israeli culture. Other participants included Emily Amrusi, Amir Moyal, Elinor Rahamim, and Renana Meir, among others.
Organizers emphasized that the campaign aimed not just to recount Rabbi Kook's historical significance but to show how his path lives on today through everyday acts of kindness and leadership. The campaign coincides with public events on the 3rd of Elul at the Jerusalem International Convention Center, featuring activities, exhibits, plays, and performances for families to honor Rabbi Kook's legacy.
