Father of Fallen Israeli Observer Urges Government to Heed Gaza Border Warnings

Around 500 protesters gathered at Habima Square in Tel Aviv to demonstrate against the government. Among the speakers was Il Ashel, father of Roni Ashel, an Israeli observer who was killed at the Nahal Oz outpost on October 7. Il Ashel addressed the crowd, questioning what more must happen for the government to listen to the observers stationed along the Gaza border. He emphasized that these observers have repeatedly warned about the situation they witness firsthand, yet their warnings have been met with neglect and dismissal. Il Ashel recounted how his daughter and her colleagues experienced this disregard until tragedy struck, stating, "They warned, the systems failed."
