Jared Harper Commits to Hapoel Jerusalem for Three More Years Aiming for EuroCup and Domestic Titles

Jared Harper, the MVP of both the Israeli Basketball Premier League and the EuroCup, has extended his contract with Hapoel Jerusalem through the 2028/29 season. After attracting interest from several European clubs, Harper chose to remain in Jerusalem, arriving at Ben Gurion Airport on August 13, 2026, and expressing his commitment to leading the team to victory.

Harper described the upcoming season as different due to a new coach, Sasha Obradovic, new players, and a revamped system. He emphasized the need for collective effort from day one and praised the talent and experience of the new additions. Despite interest from EuroLeague teams, Harper stated his desire to win titles with Jerusalem, calling this season the perfect time to aim for the EuroCup and all domestic trophies.

Discussing his leadership role, Harper noted conversations with Obradovic focused on his growth as a leader, helping new European players integrate, and leveraging his experience to guide the team. Since joining Jerusalem in 2024, Harper has been one of the best signings in Israeli basketball, averaging 18.2 points over 23 league games last season and helping the team reach the semifinals in both the playoffs and the State Cup.

Although Harper led the team to finals in both competitions last year, he has yet to secure a championship. His current salary is $1.7 million per season, tripling his initial contract from two years ago. Throughout contract negotiations, Harper consistently expressed his wish to stay in Israel, and the club responded by offering a deal reflecting his value to the team.
