Haviva Tzahor, Founding Figure of Kiryat Arba and Community Advocate, Passes Away

Haviva Tzahor, a founding resident of Kiryat Arba and a prominent community activist, has passed away. She arrived in Kiryat Arba in its early days alongside her late husband Moshe and became a central figure in local social initiatives for decades. One of her most notable contributions was adopting Liat, a blind infant with severe developmental challenges, about 40 years ago after seeing a newspaper ad seeking a home for the child. Despite Liat's complex medical condition, Tzahor devoted her life to her care, famously stating, "She is my daughter and I simply love her."

Motivated by her personal experience with Liat's needs, Tzahor established the Neve Avraham Center in Kiryat Arba, which provides therapies for children with developmental delays and special needs. Starting modestly, the center has grown to serve hundreds of children in the region. Beyond this, Tzahor was deeply involved in numerous initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Kiryat Arba residents, consistently emphasizing the importance of contributing to the community.

Her life combined dedication to family, love of the land, and public service. Haviva Tzahor leaves behind a legacy of kindness, pioneering settlement efforts, and a belief in the power of individual action to foster goodness in society.
