Israeli Religious Schools Launch Popular Interactive Torah Study App for Summer
The Israeli national-religious education system has introduced a new interactive Torah study initiative called "What Is Your Daily?" aimed at engaging thousands of students during the summer vacation. Launched ahead of the summer break, the app invites students of all ages to dedicate daily time to Torah study through various learning tracks including Maimonides, Mesilat Yesharim, Bible, Jewish law, ethics, and faith. The program combines traditional religious content with modern technology to foster spiritual growth even during the holiday period.
Rabbi Dr. Atniel Manzur, the national supervisor of rabbis in the national-religious education system, explained that the initiative aligns with the system's philosophy of placing holiness at the center of life. He emphasized that the app creates a sense of belonging and commitment among students by encouraging participation in a shared project with competitions between classes, schools, and communities. While students earn points and prizes, Rabbi Manzur noted that the true reward is their connection to the learning itself.
The app’s digital format is intentional, leveraging the fact that children live in a digital world. Instead of fighting screen time, the program uses technology as a tool to connect students to Torah values and identity. Parents have welcomed the initiative, appreciating that their children engage with meaningful religious content rather than distractions. The content is age-appropriate, with younger children learning through stories and visuals, and older students engaging with deeper discussions and questions.
Looking ahead, Rabbi Manzur envisions the program’s success extending beyond summer, potentially influencing the entire education system. He stressed that traditional study methods remain vital but sees great value in integrating technology to bring Torah closer to students.
