Teen Aviaor Sasson Admits Stabbing in Deadly Altercation Over Belongings in Tiberias

Seventeen-year-old Aviaor Sasson has admitted to stabbing Beniho Razi during a violent confrontation in Tiberias but denies intent to murder. The incident occurred when a group, including Sasson, went to retrieve belongings belonging to a girl named Shilat. According to investigation sources, the group arrived armed with bats, knives, and hammers, anticipating a possible violent encounter. Sasson and others met Razi and his friend Matanya outside a building and then went upstairs to an apartment where the confrontation escalated.

Sasson claims Razi was the first to draw a knife and attack, prompting one of the group to strike Razi, which led to chaos. Video evidence from a live call between Shilat inside the apartment and others outside may help clarify who initiated the violence, though the footage is incomplete. Sasson expressed remorse during questioning, stating he did not intend for the situation to become fatal and that their goal was merely to collect Shilat’s belongings.

After the stabbing, the group fled the scene, with Sasson eventually hiding in the hills near Tiberias for several days, avoiding contact with family due to stress. He initially was unaware that Razi had died or that he was being sought by police. Sasson’s defense portrays him as a frightened youth caught in an unintended deadly situation, while prosecution will focus on the premeditation suggested by the group’s armed arrival and coordinated actions.

Sasson is currently held at Ofek Prison, having previously been detained in Ashkelon. As a minor, his criminal responsibility and potential sentencing remain complex legal issues. The case will hinge on the intent behind the group’s preparation and the sequence of events leading to the stabbing.
