Rav Yechiel Shabsi Mushkovitz of Lakewood dies at 70
Rabbi Yechiel Shabsi Mushkovitz, a well-known Torah educator, beloved rabbi, and scholar, died in New Jersey at age 70. He spent decades teaching Torah, building generations of students through his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to their spiritual growth.
Mushkovitz was especially admired as a maggid shiur and rosh yeshiva at Yeshiva Bayonne, where his classes left a deep mark on countless students. According to the report, his teaching reflected not only broad mastery of Torah subjects, but also a rare ability to connect personally with each student and inspire them to excel in learning and in serving God.

He was known as a humble man who fled honor, possessed refined character, and was always ready to help anyone who came seeking his guidance. He was also noted in Lakewood for intense diligence, learning early in the morning, late at night, and whenever he had a spare moment.
Mushkovitz was married to Shoshana Mushkovitz, daughter of Rabbi Shmuel Kamenetsky, the Philadelphia rosh yeshiva and a member of the Council of Torah Sages in America. The funeral was scheduled for Sunday at 2:15 p.m. local time, departing from Beis Ani on Clifton Street 1210 in Lakewood, New Jersey, with burial in the Lakewood cemetery.
