Daughter Foils Father's Fraud Scheme Targeting Elderly Russian Speakers in Ashdod

A couple from Ashdod discovered the woman's father attempting to fraudulently obtain 80,000 shekels from an elderly man, leading to his arrest. The father, along with accomplices, targeted older Russian-speaking individuals by impersonating National Insurance officials and convincing victims to hand over cash or valuables. Investigations revealed at least three additional victims from whom the suspects extracted tens of thousands of shekels in cash and jewelry. The suspects used phone calls enhanced with recorded voices to lend credibility to their false identities. Security camera footage and other evidence helped police identify and locate the victims. The father admitted to the crimes, claiming he was merely carrying out orders. The prosecution has filed charges and requested remand for the main suspect.
