Haifa’s Beloved Arabeska Restaurant Opens First Overseas Branch in Cyprus
Arabeska, a popular and vibrant restaurant in Haifa’s Talpiot Market, is expanding internationally for the first time. Known for its inclusive atmosphere where Jews, Arabs, LGBTQ+ individuals, and straights gather to enjoy excellent food, the restaurant was founded during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and quickly became a beloved local institution. One of its most recognizable figures is co-owner Akram Abd, also known as "Akram the Diva," who is celebrated for bridging cultural and social divides with his direct and unapologetic style.
This October, Arabeska will open a new branch in Larnaca, Cyprus, catering to the large Israeli community there. Abd announced the expansion via Instagram, explaining that many Israelis in Cyprus have expressed interest in having Arabeska’s unique dining experience available abroad. He emphasized that the new location will preserve the original’s joyful and colorful atmosphere while adapting the menu to suit local tastes.
Abd also invited interested candidates with European passports who can commit to at least six months to join the team in Cyprus. The new branch promises the same lively ambiance, music, and excellent food that have made the Haifa restaurant a cultural and culinary landmark. Abd described the venture as his dream, highlighting the combination of great food, vibrant atmosphere, and community spirit that defines Arabeska.
