Minister Miri Regev Responds to Apology from Father of Terror Victim Shani Luk

Israeli Culture Minister Miri Regev addressed the apology from Nissim Luk, father of Shani Luk, who was killed in the October 7 Nova music festival terror attack. The confrontation between Regev and Luk occurred during her visit to Jerusalem's Mahane Yehuda Market. Regev expressed sympathy for Luk and emphasized her respect for him, noting that after the initial heated exchange, they reconciled, hugged, and spoke about her own daughter Michal, a survivor of the Nova attack.

Regev clarified that her main pain stems from false reports claiming her daughter was evacuated from the Nova festival hours before the massacre. She firmly denied these claims, stating Michal escaped on her own at 6:27 a.m., after their vehicle was shot at, and only later did she learn the full details. Regev highlighted the heavy toll on Nova survivors, including her daughter, who lost friends in the attack, and urged that children not be dragged into such disputes.

Following the incident, Nissim Luk apologized for his verbal aggression, describing it as not personal and praising Regev as a wonderful woman. He also invited her to his home and extended apologies on behalf of those who insulted her after the confrontation was recorded and circulated.
