Israeli Ambassador Denounces UN Security Council Bias Over West Bank Settlements

Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, delivered a firm message during a Security Council session held overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday, asserting that Jewish settlements in the West Bank will remain and continue to develop. Danon emphasized that these are not temporary outposts but established homes and communities, integral to the historic and eternal connection of the Jewish people to the land of Israel.

Danon sharply criticized the Security Council for applying a double standard, focusing exclusively on settler violence while ignoring the numerous Palestinian terror attacks in the region. He accused the Council of unfairly stigmatizing the entire Israeli public when incidents involve Israelis, whereas Palestinian attacks are addressed solely by condemning the perpetrators. "This is not justice, it is prejudice," Danon stated.

His remarks come amid ongoing tensions between Israel and the UN regarding settlement policies, with recent weeks seeing multiple Security Council discussions on the situation in the West Bank. Danon reiterated the deep historical and religious roots of the Jewish people in Judea and Samaria, underscoring that this connection cannot be disregarded in international debates.
