Israeli Security Sees US Syria Nuclear Operation as Signal for Iran Strategy Amid Ongoing Negotiations

Israeli security officials believe a recent US operation to remove nuclear components from Syria serves as a signal that Washington could apply a similar approach to Iran, contingent on an agreement with the Iranian regime. This assessment comes amid tense US-Iran negotiations focused on the Strait of Hormuz, where both sides are reportedly nearing a framework agreement to ensure safe passage and maximize oil and gas flow, aiming to reduce energy prices in the US.

In Israel, the military stresses the importance of significantly weakening Iran under any scenario, with the preferred approach being a joint military operation alongside the United States. Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has ordered maintaining high readiness in coordination with US forces, anticipating potential escalation. Discussions in the US continue on how to target Iran’s underground nuclear site at Mount Makush if talks fail.

US Vice President J.D. Vance confirmed recent progress in negotiations, which also involve other Gulf states, including Oman, which described the talks as positive and constructive. However, tensions remain high after the UAE accused Iran of attacking a ship linked to Abu Dhabi’s national oil company in the Strait of Hormuz.
