Model Finds Her Wedding Photos Used Without Permission in AliExpress Dress Ads

Israeli model Yaela Fromkin Zelinger discovered that photos and videos from her wedding day with her husband Roy were taken without permission and used as marketing material on AliExpress. Sellers on the platform employed the images to advertise wedding dresses, prompting women who recognized her to alert her. In an interview on the show "HaOlam HaBoker," Fromkin Zelinger expressed shock that such personal moments were commercialized without consent. The wedding dress in question was custom-designed for her by designer Tal Medina.

Rather than only feeling offended, Fromkin Zelinger and Medina responded creatively by purchasing the allegedly copied dress from AliExpress to compare its quality. Fromkin Zelinger plans to produce a comparison video, emphasizing that the AliExpress version cannot match Medina’s craftsmanship. She highlighted the blurred line between sharing personal photos on social media and unauthorized international commercial use, stressing that posting on Instagram does not grant permission for commercial exploitation.

She humorously noted that copying indicates their work was good but added she has reached out to the sellers and is awaiting their response. Fromkin Zelinger concluded by affirming her rights as a private individual whose images were misused commercially without authorization.
