Samsung Releases Update to Fix Green Line Glitch in Galaxy Camera App

Samsung has started rolling out a new update for the camera app on Galaxy devices to fix a peculiar issue causing a green line to appear in the thumbnail preview of high-resolution photos. The update, version 16.5.03.2, is primarily targeted at devices running One UI 8.5. The glitch manifests immediately after taking a high-resolution photo, where the thumbnail within the camera app sometimes shows a green line, potentially misleading users to think the photo or camera sensor is damaged. However, the problem is limited to the app's interface; when viewing the same photo in the Gallery app, the green line does not appear and the original image file remains intact.

Samsung's update notes explicitly mention a fix for the thumbnail generation issue related to high-resolution photos, confirming the company’s awareness of the problem. Reports indicate the issue mainly affected some Galaxy S23 users on One UI 8.5, though it is unclear if other models are impacted. Devices running One UI 9 already use a newer camera app version and are not targeted by this update. One UI 9 is currently stable on the Galaxy Z series and in beta testing for the upcoming Galaxy S26 series.

Users experiencing the green line can check for the update by opening the Galaxy Store and looking for camera app version 16.5.03.2. Since the issue only affects the thumbnail display and not the actual photo files, there is no need to delete any previously taken pictures.
