Samsung Acknowledges Pink Tint Issue on Galaxy S26 Ultra Screens, Promises Software Fix
In recent months, Galaxy S26 Ultra users have reported an unusual pink or reddish rectangular tint appearing in the center of their device screens. These reports, shared widely on social media and Samsung community forums, describe the discoloration emerging either shortly after purchase or gradually over several months. Some users even noticed the issue on display units in stores. Despite the growing number of complaints, the problem affects only a limited number of devices.
Samsung has officially responded to the reports, confirming to Engadget that it is aware of the phenomenon. The company explained that the tint appears under specific conditions, such as prolonged exposure to bright light while the screen is at maximum brightness, a scenario common for store display models. Samsung emphasized that the issue is not due to physical screen damage or hardware defects but relates solely to color balance.
The company assured users that the display continues to function normally and that the discoloration can be corrected through a forthcoming software update involving color calibration. This calibration will use Samsung’s existing OLED quality management technology to restore uniform color balance across the screen. However, Samsung has not yet announced a timeline for releasing this update.
Speculation has arisen online suggesting the problem might be linked to the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s exclusive Privacy Display feature, which narrows viewing angles to prevent others from seeing the screen content. Samsung has neither confirmed nor denied any connection between this feature and the color tint issue.
