Israeli Player Guy Artman Joins Spanish Second Division Basketball Team Palmer Basket

Israeli basketball player Guy Artman has signed with Palmer Basket, a team competing in Spain's second division, for the upcoming season. Palmer Basket is based in Palma, on the Spanish island of Mallorca. This marks Artman's third professional stop in Spain, following previous stints with Albacete and Santander.

Last season, Artman played for Alba Berlin's reserve team in Germany's third division, helping them reach the promotion playoffs to the second division. He also appeared in five games with Alba Berlin's main squad, including the German Cup semifinal and final. Artman chose Palmer Basket over several offers from Israeli teams in the Winner League and National League, as well as from Germany's second division.

Artman explained his decision, saying, "I chose to play in Spain's second division as part of my ongoing development. I moved to Europe three years ago aiming to reach the highest levels. Last season proved to me that I can compete at those levels, and the Spanish second division is the professional step up I wanted this year. This could help me eventually join the ACB, Spain's top league and one of Europe's strongest." He expressed gratitude to Palmer Basket and those who approached him in Israel, adding, "I have no doubt I will play in Israel again in the future." Notably, John DiBartolomeo, a veteran naturalized Israeli player, also played for Palmer early in his European career before returning to Israel to join Maccabi Haifa and later Maccabi Tel Aviv.
