SciPlay Lays Off 20 Employees at Israeli Development Center
SciPlay, a leading mobile and social casino gaming company, has laid off 20 employees from its Israeli branch, which employs around 300 people. The Israeli division, SciPlay Games Israel, serves as a strategic development hub for the US-based parent company, fully owned by Light & Wonder. The local operation originated from SciPlay's acquisition of Israeli gaming firm Dragonplay in 2014 and is headquartered in the Bourse complex in Ramat Gan, representing about one-third of the company’s global workforce.
The Israeli center hosts multidisciplinary teams specializing in software development, product management, data science, analytics, UI/UX, and digital marketing. It is responsible for developing and operating some of SciPlay's flagship games, including Quick Hit Slots, 88 Fortunes, and Hot Shot Casino. These games operate on a free-to-play social casino model using virtual currencies without real-money gambling, leveraging well-known Las Vegas casino brands and licenses.
SciPlay's Israeli site is considered a key growth engine for the company, driving technological innovation, data analysis, and user retention. The branch is led by Noga Halperin, who also serves as the company’s Chief Revenue Officer and a member of SciPlay’s global executive team.
