Former Shin Bet Chief Yoram Cohen Criticizes Current Head David Zini's Security Decisions and Political Conduct

Yoram Cohen, former head of Israel's Shin Bet security agency, sharply criticized current chief David Zini in a recent interview with 103fm. Cohen, who recently joined Gadi Eizenkot's political party, warned of cracks in Zini's decision-making and expressed concern over threats to the agency's nonpartisan and professional character. He specifically highlighted problematic statements by Zini and questioned security measures extended to the Netanyahu family, emphasizing the need to distinguish between the prime minister and his relatives.

Cohen stressed the importance of maintaining the agency's apolitical stance even if pressured by the prime minister to act unlawfully. He noted the difference between military command experience and leading a civilian security organization operating both in the Palestinian arena and within Israel. Cohen hopes Zini will halt questionable decisions and preserve institutional integrity.

Additionally, Cohen condemned the Likud party's recent campaign tactics amid rising pressure from polls. He described their attacks on Eizenkot's party as "low and despicable," particularly criticizing personal attacks on family members, including those who have died.
