Israeli Religious Authorities Warn Against False Marriage Registration Claims

The Israeli Ministry of Religious Services and the Chief Rabbinate have issued a joint urgent clarification warning the public about misleading claims made by certain organizations regarding marriage registration. Recently, the association "Anachnu Techelet" has been promoting itself on social media and other platforms as working "in full cooperation with the Chief Rabbinate of Israel" to provide personal support and administrative document arrangements for young couples. However, both the Ministry and the Rabbinate categorically denied any such cooperation, institutional affiliation, approval, or authorization granted to "Anachnu Techelet" or its representatives.

The official statement emphasized that this policy applies universally to all private entities claiming to operate in collaboration with or under the auspices of the Chief Rabbinate or the Ministry of Religious Services without official certification. They clarified that the exclusive authority to conduct marriage registrations in Israel rests solely with religious councils, regional rabbinate offices, and the formal systems of the Chief Rabbinate. No commercial or volunteer organization is authorized to act on their behalf.

The authorities urged the public to use only authorized channels for managing marriage registration procedures and to avoid relying on unauthorized parties to prevent misinformation and potential administrative complications.
